  Ithaa
Not housing per se, but still interesting.

"Ithaa, which means pearl in Dhivehi, is the world's first-ever undersea restaurant, secured five meters below sea level, at Rangali Island of Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. The five- by nine-meter restaurant has a capacity of 14 people and is encased in a transparent acrylic roof offering 270° of panoramic view to its customers."

I mostly like it because it reminds me of the Isaac Asimov short story "Waterclap".

  VIP capsule hotels, Japan
Speaking of capsule housing, Japanese hotels are starting to offer VIP rooms.

"Nearly everybody who uses a capsule hotel does so with the realization that they're no-frills kinds of places that are basically just somewhere to sleep," a spokesman for Capsule Inn Shinbashi tells Spa! "We figured that if our places are just for sleeping, we should do what we can to make that sleep an awesome experience. And that's how our VIP Rooms started."

  Cardboard house
A truly amazing cardboard house. 100% recyclable, plus lighting and plumbing.

Bio friendly!

"The Cardboard House represents the reduction of technology and the simplification of needs. By demonstrating that we are able to recycle 100% of the building components at extremely low cost, the Cardboard House is a direct challenge to the housing industry to reduce housing and environmental costs."

  Fantastic micro compact housing
A 2.65m cubed living space -- a transportable, micro compact home based on japanese tea houses, is actually being produced.

The German site has photos of the inside.

(Also check out the amazing dormitory construction: 12m square, 15m high, 30 homes. )

I would go to that school just for the living space.

  Man lives in nest
"BEIJING, April 27 -- A man-made nest has been placed on a 10-meter steel shelf on the Jianwai SOHO Plaza, the most prosperous business area in Beijing. Chinese poet Yefu moved into the nest yesterday, where he will experience a bird's life for one-month."

The best thing in the whole world.

  Dutch floating homes
Amphibious houses float as water rises. The basement is built on a platform, and the foundation of each house is hollow, working like the hull of a ship.

This one features drive-in parking on the bottom.
